The other Ronaldo

With his Incredible control over the ball and his ability to step up to the pressure while keeping a consistent smile on his childish face, C. Ronaldo is the man of the day. One also needs to give a credit to Ricardo, the Goal keeper. He must be a PKs speacialist. He moved to the right direction in every Penalty kick which shows that he reads the striker's body movement (particulary the direction of the knees)early on to do so. I thought that was impressive.

Regarding the result, it is always true that the best prediction of the future is the past. Portugal never lost a game by PKs in the World Cup while England had always a horrible record when it comes to that. So again the future always seems to love to repeat itself. As my friend Gary puts it, it is clear the English are too good to win by PKs. Saying all that, it stinks that such awesome games end by PKs. Flipping a coin would have been less traumatic for those players and their fans. In closing and regardless of the result, Ronaldo is the prince of his nation today. Good luck for him next week against the other Ronaldo, the fat one!

Flipping a coin is a worst way to lose the game. To score from a PK is a skill and clearly the English lack it. So they deserve to be beaten.
