Qatar's hypocricy

On Monday, Qatar's Foreign Minister accused some Arab states of supporting the Israeli offensive on Lebanon to dismantle Hizbullah. The frank Minister refused to call these countries by name, however every body knows that he was shooting at the governments of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. What provoked the Qatari minister to do so is unknown. However, one might guess that Qatar which very much like to play a bigger political role than its tiny size, was disappointed for not being invited to Rome's conference even though that it currently holds a seat in the Security Counsel.

The truth is that I was not surprised with the Minister's statement, however I must admit that I was a little surprised with the new Qatari's approach. Typically, the Qataris use "Aljazeera Channel" to attack and accuse other countries in the region of unloyalty to the Arab cause. This time things were different. His Highness approach was a direct and I believe that he deserved a credit for his frankness and honesty. The irony of the matter is that His Highness did not explain to us his government's position to allow the US government to use Al Udeid air base which is located in Qatar, to supply Israel with "bunker busters," which aim to end the plight and existence of Hizbullah!

Personally, I believe that Qatar has the right to decide what is best to protect its interests, however my grandmother has a sincere advice to his Highness: "if your house is built out of glass, do not be the first to throw a stone to your neighbour's house."
